Fine Robusta.Precisely Sourced.

Direct-trade infrastructure connecting Ugandan coffee producers to global buyers.

01
The Problem

The world's most popular drink has a broken supply chain.Especially for Robusta.

Robusta is not an inferior coffee. It is a different coffee, one that supplies roughly 40% of everything in the global cup. The crema in your espresso, the body in your blend, the caffeine yield your customers rely on: Robusta provides all of it.

The major brands never touch coffee trees. They buy pre-processed beans, squeezing producers for price, with little control over farming, processing, storage or documentation.

No Traceability
Origin declared as country, not community. No chain of custody.
Inconsistent Quality
Specification varies between lots, seasons and suppliers.
EUDR Exposure
Almost no Ugandan supply chain was designed for compliance.
Each of these problems is solvable. Canephora was built to solve them.
The Origin

Uganda is where Robusta began. We built the infrastructure it deserves.

Coffea canephora was not cultivated and transported to Uganda. It originated here. In the wild forests of western Uganda, specifically Kibaale Forest, lives the living genetic stock of the plant that supplies roughly 40% of the world's coffee.

Uganda is Africa's largest coffee exporter and the world's sixth largest producer, a position built overwhelmingly on Robusta.

Coffee.
Conservation.
Community.
The coffees of the Rwenzori region are nestled across Uganda's western highlands, a beacon of single-origin coffee production in East Africa.
Origin & Terroir
Found along the edges of Kibaale Forest National Park and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, these communities cultivate indigenous varieties whose flavour profiles echo the forest's habitat.
Method & Philosophy
With meticulous handpicking and natural processing, farmers employ organic methods, producing notes of roasted almond, tropical jackfruit, molasses, coffee blossom and clove.
Conservation & Community
Growers implement programmes to mitigate human-animal conflicts. Beekeeping supports alternative incomes, reducing dependence on forest resources.

Producer Relationships

We don't buy coffee from communities. We build supply chains with them.

Our producer relationships are named, documented and maintained year-round. We work directly with smallholder farming communities across the Rwenzori region.

Every farm is GPS-mapped. Every producer is registered. Every lot is traceable back to the community that grew it.

Producers are compensated for quality, not merely for volume.

Infrastructure

The processing facility is not a marketing asset. It is the quality guarantee the export business depends on.

Canephora holds an active UCDA license for primary coffee processing, operating a fully integrated infrastructure in Fort Portal, western Uganda.

EUDR Compliance

For most Ugandan exporters, EUDR is a sourcing crisis. For Canephora buyers, it is resolved before you ask.

The EU Deforestation Regulation requires all coffee entering the EU to be accompanied by documented evidence of deforestation-free production post 31 December 2020.

Canephora was designed from inception with EUDR compliance as a non-negotiable baseline.
GPS-Mapped Plots
Every producer community plot GPS-mapped.
Land Use Records
Verified against satellite imagery.
Deforestation Check
All zones verified deforestation-free post 31 Dec 2020.
Chain of Custody
Full documentation from named community through export.
Compliance Package
Complete EUDR Due Diligence Statement with every shipment.
Legal Standing
Structured to meet EU Reg. 2023/1115.
Direct Trade

We built the infrastructure that collapses the supply chain. Not a shorter version. A different model.

The conventional supply chain involves a smallholder farmer, local aggregator, hulling mill, domestic trader, export desk, freight forwarder, European importer and finally a roaster. Each hand removes traceability.

No aggregator. No domestic trader. No anonymous export desk. No margin leakage.
Price Transparency
Verified Robusta at prices reflecting origin value, not trader markups.
Quality Guarantee
One entity controls sourcing, processing, grading and documentation.
Supply Reliability
Forward contracts credible because we control the chain end to end.
